Quotes and getting started
Do you charge for a quote?
No. Shade Scaffolding offers a no-obligation quotation service. We work out the best scaffold configuration for the job with you, and we are open about what it costs.
Which areas do you cover?
Greater London and Surrey, from our base in Worcester Park.
When can I reach you?
The office is open Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm, on 020 8337 7733. You can also send us the details at any time.
Is my job too small?
No job is too big or too small. We work with you within your budget, without ever compromising on safety.
How quickly can you put a scaffold up?
⟨confirm with Ervin: a typical lead time from accepted quote to the scaffold going up, and how long a standard house scaffold takes to erect⟩
Do you sort out the council scaffold licence?
⟨confirm with Ervin: if the scaffold stands on a pavement or road, do you apply for the council licence yourselves, and is the fee included in the quote?⟩
The work itself
What kinds of scaffolding do you do?
Commercial and residential scaffolding, temporary roofs, hoarding and events scaffolding. We also offer a 24/7 emergency call-out, and alarms and lighting for scaffolds. See all services.
What is a temporary roof for?
A temporary roof covers the building while the work goes on underneath, so the job can carry on in bad weather and the inside stays dry. More about temporary roofs.
Do you do emergency call-outs?
Yes, we offer a 24/7 emergency call-out. ⟨confirm with Ervin: which number should people ring out of hours, and what counts as an emergency (for example a dangerous structure or storm damage)?⟩
Can the scaffold be alarmed and lit?
Yes. Scaffold alarms and lighting are among the other services we offer, for security and so the structure is visible at night.
Safety and qualifications
Are your scaffolders qualified?
Yes. We employ fully qualified staff with CITB and CISRS certification, working on both commercial and residential projects.
Do you provide a risk assessment and method statement?
Yes. Before any project starts we issue a risk assessment and method statement written for that job, and the team is briefed on safety at project meetings.
Which standards do you work to?
We work to the Construction Industry Regulations and our legal duties under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, and to the NASC guidance for scaffolding: TG20 for design and SG4 for preventing falls. ⟨confirm with Ervin: your site quotes TG20:13 and SG4:10. The current editions are TG20:21 and SG4:22. Which do you work to now?⟩
Are you insured?
⟨confirm with Ervin: your public and employers’ liability insurance, and the cover amount you are happy to publish⟩
